A short event in downtown Kralendijk to meet other geocachers.
This will be the 8th time that we visit Bonaire for a diving holiday. It's not diving all over, but in between there is also time for geocaching and golf.
This 3rd event is located in the main street, the Kaya Grandi in the commercial area of the city. It's also near the Wilhelmina Square, that is named after Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands. Among the many market stalls on this square, with local made products, a strange special building attracts your attention.............
It 's the Lions Club of Bonaire's time capsule, to celebrate their 40th anniversary. It was established 17 years ago, on the 2nd of Febuary in 2002. The pyramid has a nautical look and ship porthole windows to look inside.
The sign tells us:
"This monument, founded in 2002 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Bonaire Lions Club, contains a time capsule with letters and contemporary articles, which will be opened in 2042."
So it takes another 23 years before that capsule will be opened.
Walking and shopping along the Kaya Grandi you can enjoying the sun and the Caribbean architecture.
A small logbook and some trackables will be available near the Lions Club of Bonaire's time capsule.
You can recognize me by my black Geocoin T-Shirt. Write a "Will Attend" and I'm looking forward to meet you then
