Ha'Tsi's Playground Box Seats! Redux! is a small traditional cache hidden above what I refer to as Ha'Tsi's Playground! on Bald Mountain Ridge.
Originally the container was hidden back on September 11th 2019 as Ha'Tsi's Playground Box seat. It was far closer to the trailhead and was never published. And since its original hiding location was such a good one, Ha'Tsi herself placed and published a cache, "GC9G4H4 Salty", within 30 feet of where I had hidden the original. Made me snicker when I saw her cache was published. Afterall, it is her playground!
Why do I call it Ha'Tsi's Playground?!?!? Because she had placed the majority of the caches in the area when I discovered it. And without her caches I likely would have never found it! Over the last few summers I have made at least one trip to the area and had a fun day every time. Also, I know this is one of her and her families favorite spots to be out and about in Hatcher! In 2023, I have been to the 'playground' twice and run into Ha'Tsi both times!!
Why Box Seats? Because both locations give great views of the 'playground' and have good places to sit and take it all in!
The cache can be approached from either April Bowl or from the posted parking coordinates for Ha'Tsi's caches in the playground. The day I hid the cache, I approached from her parking waypoint. From there I headed out toward "GC6TAVT Quartz Motherlode" which is a great end destination itself! The low clouds and fog kept visibility very low and I wasn't able to see where I wanted to go. Upon reaching 'motherlode' I decided to proceed to the final location even though I couldn't see much of anything! Thankfully, I had been almost to where I wanted to place the cache a couple of years back and had my GPS along to keep me from getting totally lost! My head was definitely in the clouds!!!
From 'Motherlode', I proceeded up to the top of the saddle just past where "GC3TANC SAAS:A Cache at Hatcher Patche".is located. Once on the ridge, there is a trail that you can follow until you are below the final location and then head up to the cache! Only reason I could find my way to it was cause I had my GPS. The terrain maps are so much more detailed than what I have or know how to use on my iPhone. The low clouds and fog were eery to walk about in! Hopefully, you will pick a day where you can see the views from the cache!
Once at GZ look around in the rocks and find the 'geo cairn'. If you are not successful take a look at the spoiler photo! I also added a couple of pics of the 'view' when I placed the cache!
