Geocache Description:

This area of Bath & NE Somerset was part of the Somerset Coalfield in the 1700s and 1800s.

The ‘Around the Mearns’ caches (currently 7 in all) can be found as part as a circular walk taking approximately 1½ hours.

Why not bring your binoculars and enjoy the views along the way.

The Hayeswood coal mine opened around 1750 and closed in 1862. The pit shaft was a maximum of 6 ft wide and went to a maximum depth of 642 ft.

You are looking for a small pot (not in an actual mine). Bring your own pen.

Parking possible at N51° 19.800'  W002° 29.872'
