I can recall when there were still railroad tracks through here.
A big part of my life was spent in this general area, working on the local farms and hunting. If you go up Preisser Rd, towards Duman's Dam, the first farm on your right was the farm of John Preisser. There is just a small barn there now. The original, much larger barn, was struck by lightning and burned down several years ago. In my teens; my father, brothers and I re-sided that old barn, put a new foundation under it, and painted it. Mr Preisser would come out in his home made kilt and Scottish accent, giving us his instructions on the day's work. He had a personal vendetta against wild carrots (Queens Anne's Lace) growing in his fields, and would pay us to dig them out. Legend has it that there was a small Native American settlement near the stream on that property before there were any farms in this area. We have found several arrowheads and I have a celt found while picking stones out of the fields.
Wanted to place something in this area to draw some attention here. Still lots of deer and turkey, and coyotes are now more prevalent. You never know what you might run into.
