So, we came out for a drive on Saturday, and stopped here at the day-use area just to check it out and walk along the lake a bit. As we were walking along the lakeshore we thought we spotted some bear paw prints, but they didn't look that recent. We talked about how the bears were probably out at this time of year, trying to fatten up before the winter and their hibernation. We ended up deciding to place a cache here, because why not? We were kinda surprised there wasn't one here already in fact. One of us was standing at the rock where this cache is located, and one of us was standing on the path, ready to toss the cache container to the other, who was going to then place it, when one of us said "Oh, look behind you!" I turned around and not 30 feet away was a black bear, casually looking at us as it crossed the path in the park. It seemed curious, but not overly interested in us. Still, it gave us quite a start, and we really were "between a rock and a bear place." Neither of us had been that close to a wild bear before--it was pretty cool. Obviously we didn't follow or interfere with it in any way, but we did manage to grab a couple photos of it. It was a wild experience, literally.
