Geocache Description:


The Kovshim Garden is a public memorial garden in south-central Tel-Aviv-Jaffa. The park is bounded by the Carmelit bus terminal, the Hassan Beck mosque, the Shabazi neighborhood, and the Carmel market. Measuring 23 acres, the garden has an extensive lawn and a monument The garden was designed by Tel-Aviv gardener Abraham Caravan and was inaugurated in 1957. In the center is a monument in memory of Tel-Aviv defenders, and conquerors of Jaffa during the war of independence. It was designed by the sculptor Micahel Kara and his son, architect Haim Kara. The monument is made of stone and marble. On its south side is a relief depicting three warrior figure. On the northern side the inscription honors the defenders of T.A AND J, and includes symbols of the state. The garden was rebuilt and renewed in 2000.
