Geocache Description:

This cache is the last of 17 in the “Search for the Big 5” series of caches.

Do not attempt this cache if you do not have a high raised vehicle or a rental. You may just get stuck along the road.

When on a visit to Phalaborwa recently I discovered Geocaching and on a return visit I saw that the local cachers are keeping the caches coming and decided to reward them with some caches of my own on a route I often followed in search of the Big 5 when I was still a youngster living in Phalaborwa.

The 42000ha Letaba Ranch Provincial Park is situated just north of Phalaborwa next to the Kruger National Park, and is known for its large herds of elephant and buffalo. It shares an open border with Kruger, and is part of the Greater Kruger National Park area.

Besides the elephant and buffalo herds, other wildlife that can be seen includes hippo and crocodiles in the Letaba river, giraffe, various species of antelope, zebra, leopard, rhino, cheetah and lion among many other species.

The reserve is currently not open to the public due to various land claims issues.

The cache is a camouflaged pill holder.

At this point you reach the most southern gate of Letaba Ranch Game Reserve.  The reserve is not accessible to the public.  Here you can either tun left and go back to Phalaborwa via the Selwane Road or you can make an about turn and drive back the same way with the hope of seeing some game inside the parks you pass.
