Jianshe Xincun was built as a construction worker dormitory compound in the 1980s, at the time co-located with the City Construction Bureau. When the nearby Garden Hotel was built a bit later but also in the 1980s the area underwent significant change, with many new high-rise buildings.
This tree-lined, attractive section of Jianshe 3 Malu, providing an entrance into Jianshe Xincun from nearby bus stops, provides a welcoming and stark contrast with the traffic-saturated Dongfeng Road. The street hasn't changed much in decades and leads into the heart of Jianshe Xincun and eventually up to Huanshi Lu via some stairs. Depending on the time of day a curious parking attendant may be sitting in a booth nearby.
