I discovered this Cemetery while looking at the satelite views for Rochester. I did not know that it existed until recently.
Known locally as the Old Old Cemetery, to differentiate it from the Old Rochester Cemetery, Old Cemetery is located on the east side of South Main Street (Rte 108). Access to the cemetery is by an unmarked right-of-way between the Hourihane Building and Yankee Electric to the left of the intersection of South Main and Franklin Road. (See waypoint below)
There is a certain feeling of serenity whenever I visit old cemeteries. It often makes me wonder what it would have been like to live as some of the beloved deceased did back in a time when life was much simpler. No air pollution, (both air and noise). No electronics for everyone to be hunched over missing the world as it passes us by. Ailments such as diabetes, fibromyalgia, celiac disease, ADHD, and many others were practically non existent. But I digress!
The cache is placed with permission of Doug Soule, one of the caretakers for Rochesters cemeteries. Please be respectful of the surroundings and observe the common rules for most cemeteries. No dogs allowed, and no night caching. Be advised, the premesis is under video surveillance, as stated by the sign as you enter the grounds.
The container is a camouflaged container covered by natural camo that blends in to its surroundings. There is an ample supply of tradeable items, the log book and a pencil & pen to start it off. Please be sure to return as found
There is a preform bottle inside for the FTF prize.
