Lay-by at Five Mile Bridge, between Killarney and Ladies View on the Ring of Kerry
Whether it's a lake or a river is a question for elsewhere. Either way, the Long Range serves to connect the Upper Lake and Muckross Lake.
Directly across the Long Range is a peak known as the the Eagles Nest - it was a nesting place for golden eagles up to the late 19th century. The summit is less than 350m but can take hours to get to given the difficult terrain.
The mountain behind and across the road from the lay-by is Torc, which when climbed has outstanding views over Killarney.
