Water Tower of Marcalváros
The impressive architectural work, which is still modern today, is one of the largest water towers in Hungary with a capacity of 6,000 cubic meters.
By the mid-1970s, in the place of the water tower cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes had grown in the gardens of truck farms. At that time the town expanded southwards, new housing estates were built, and the first tall buildings of Ady-city were already standing. The design tables have already outlined the design of a new ten thousand-unit housing estate - Marcalváros.
The trunk was built in the fall of 1977 by the North Transdanubian Public Utility and Underground Construction Company, with sliding formwork technology. This means that the formwork surrounding the trunk was raised in every 25 centimeters. They were able to go 2-3 lifting cycles daily. The steel tanks were assembled around the tower trunk at the field level. The finished tanks were lifted to their final position by a special hydraulic lifting device.
PANNON-VÍZ ??Zrt. renovated the tower in 2000 with an investment of fifty million forints. And recently, young people are populating the area below the water tower, the Street Sports Association of Győr developed a skate rink. In nice weather skateboards, streetboards, rollerblades, roller skates and BMX bikes will come out.

In 2018, the Water Tower of Marcalváros was repainted by the plans of the Kossuth Awarded graphic designer Dora Maurer. The original "boring" gray and bourdon colors have been replaced by a bright blue striping. The repainting was already actual for corrosion protection reasons.

A Marcalvárosi Víztorony
A ma is modernnek számító, impozáns építészeti alkotás hatezer köbméteres kapacitásával egyike a legnagyobb magyarországi víztornyoknak.
A víztorony helyén a hetvenes évek közepéig bolgárkertészek veteményeskertjeiben nőtt az uborka, a paprika és a paradicsom. A város ekkor déli irányban terjeszkedett, új lakótelepek épültek, Adyváros első magas épületei már álltak. A tervezőasztalokon pedig már körvonalazódott egy új tízezer lakásos lakótelep – Marcalváros - terve.
A törzset 1977 őszén kezdte építeni az Észak-dunántúli Közmű és Mélyépítő Vállalat, csúszó-zsaluzatos technológiával. Ez azt jelenti, hogy a törzset körülvevő zsaluzatot 25 centiméterenként emelve haladtak felfelé. Naponta 2-3 emelési ciklust sikerült haladniuk. Az acéltartályokat a toronytörzs körül a terepszinten szerelték össze. A kész tartályokat egy speciális hidraulikus emelőszerkezet húzta fel a végleges helyükre.
2000-ben, ötven millió forintos beruházással újította fel a tornyot az üzemeltető PANNON-VÍZ Zrt. A legutóbbi időben pedig fiatalok népesítik be a víztorony alatti területet, a győri Utcai Sportok Egyesülete alakított ki skate pályát. Jó időben előkerül a gördeszka, streetboard, görkorcsolya, roller és a BMX kerékpár.

2018-ban Maurer Dóra Kossuth-díjas grafikus útmutatásai alapján átfestették a marcalvárosi víztornyot. Az eredeti "unalmas" szürke és bordó színek helyére élénk kék sávozás került. Az újrafestés egyébként is aktuális volt már korrózióvédelmi okokból.
