MLF5: Choo-Choo Virtual Cache

This cache has been archived.

ODragon: It is with great sadness that I archive this cache. The first time I found this cache was in April of 2005. I was amazed at the time, it was my 16th virtual and for the most part, they were what virtuals were meant to be, really interesting locations you wouldn't have seen otherwise. Six months later, Freeside graciously agreed to adopt it out to me and I was honored. I had adopted by far the coolest virtual in a 50 mile radius. (I've done almost all of them in a 50 mile radius at this point so I know it's true). I've taken or sent many cachers to see it and everyone agreed with the wow factor. (So much so, it recently showed up in the GC forums about virtuals with wow factors, want to see others, check it out here.

After the last couple of e-mails I received about it, I decided I should go take a look. We saw the for sale sign from the road and I knew this would be the end. Three quarters of the interesting things were gone and one of the questions could no longer be answered. The virtual cache had only the bare bones left and cement blocks were left in places, looking like pieces of a skeleton with the skin picked clear.

I don't want to archive this but it's really lost the reason that people come to see it and I wouldn't want someone to see what was left and think this was the majesty of the cache. Any found logs that come in after this archive note will be deleted.

However, much like at a funeral, I don't want the focus to be on the death of this cache but on what a great cache it was and would request that cachers add photos to their logs here of what this cache was about. I don't care if you found it 2002 and your pictures are old. All we have left is the memory of this cache and the pictures that were taken. Please post them, I would appreciate it and I think Freeside would also.

Thanks,
-Train Conductor ODragon

Geocache Description:

For locomotive lovers. Number 5 in my series of Main Line Finds.

This virtual is on private property but I understand the owner intends his work to be enjoyed by the public. I have driven through several times without issue, and once exchanged a cheery wave with the resident. Slow down as you approach the coordinates or you're liable to miss the turn. The road runs through so there's no need to back up; just keep going. Go slow and choose a decent time of day to visit. There's no need to get out of the car.

To claim this cache, e-mail me the following:

 1. what types of mail does this location receive? (look around at the entrance off the main road)
 2. how far to the drawbridge?

Families whose children are young enough to appreciate "choo-choo!" sounds should particularly enjoy this magical suburban surprise.

"Camelot" is right around the corner.

11/01/05: Adopted from Freeside.
