This virtual cache is located towards the outskirts of Karaganda, the second largest city in Kazakhstan, and gives a glimpse of a relic of Soviet Times.
The cache is a large statue of Vladimir Lenin and a reminder of the former status of Kazakhstan as a member republic of the USSR. The statue was almost destroyed in the late 1990s, but was saved by remaining members of the Communist party in the city. If you look closely you can see the hole under the left shoulder where they were going to put the dynamite to blow up the statue. To log this cache send me a photo of yourself with your GPS in front of the statue. Note that the statue was moved around 2011 from the center of town to the outskirts. Thanks to some cache finders the coordinates are now updated as of 10/2014.
