Xindaxin Plaza is a mostly empty stretch of pavement for large parts of the day, especially during the hottest months of April to September, albeit with lots of passing pedestrians and some plaza-facing cafes recently added to the edges. At night, however, and on weekends in the cooler months, it comes alive, packed with people of all ages and forming a continuous intensely active plaza down to a recent small park installed on the northwest side of the Ouzhuang interchange.
Unlike many plazas, this one is lined with many long ledges used for seating around the perimeter; an ideal plaza design which creates an enclosed, human-scale stretch of pavement that enriches the area. The upgrades to the mall perimeter involving outward facing cafe seating are a great addition for the plaza, though the onlookers may make searching more challenging.
