The African Wesleyan Methodist Episcopal Church (Mt. Zion) was officially begun in March of 1828 when 2 acres of land at this spot on the White Horse Pike was purchased for the purposes of establishing a church property. The church originally was held in a log cabin, but that burned to the ground in 1835. Two more church buildings occupied this site over the years until the current building was built in 1905. The church is currently served by its 39th minister in its nearly 200 year history.
The property has expanded over the years to include 4 acres of property. Part of the property is used for a graveyard. Its worth taking some time to wander the cemetery and look at the graves, which include many veterans.
This cache is a small lock top container located just off of the chuch property. Please use stealth and place it back as you found it! This is also a PRIME spot for cach in-trash out, as trash blows across the parking lot and into the cemetery. We picked up a pull trash bag here when we placed it, and felt like we barely made a dent.
Congrats to florist1979 on the FTF!
