lerup: Alas, this cache is another one which has fallen prey to suburban encroachment. When I placed it back in 2002, it was about 400m from the nearest house. Development ensued, so the last several years it was about 100m from the nearest house. However, now they have run a street right past the location and parcelled out the whole area for building even more houses.
The cache and the tree that held it are completely gone. Even if I wanted to, I could not possibly replace it anywhere near the same location. So, sadly, there is no option but to archive it. It has managed to survive for 21 years, so I guess that’s not bad.
This was the second-oldest active cache I had. It was placed as replacement for another cache in the area, which went AWOL fairly quickly (that one was haphazardly placed, even by 2001 standards). One of the first logs for Naja's Treasure contains Malak’s then-standard find pic, showing the cache container resting on his camping chair! As a side note, the cache it replaced (“Lucky’s Stash”) was the first one I ever found.
Thanks to all who visited and alerted me to maintenance needs.
