Geocache Description:

This duct-taped supplement bottle contains log and baggy.  There is room for very small items. It is NOT at the listed coordindates; see the following cache description to find where it is located.

To obtain the final coordinates, you need only solve the following SORTA' ROT*N puzzle:

AEZ SUNIV YIEGF TYZ IHYSVV YZIT QYI EGFT TFVII QIUT TFVI IHE RIHYS VUEPY ZIIE GFTUIRI ZZYVTF

[Checksum for N ab cd.efg W hij kl.mno = (a+b+c+d+e+f+g) - (h+i+j+k+l+m+n+o) = 7]

There is plenty of parking within an 800-foot not-more-than-moderately-demanding-in-summer-but-less-so in winter bushwhack of the cache.  If you go at it this way, be sure to mark where you parked.  For another approach, read on.

As time goes on, I find it increasingly difficult to bake a cache without mixing a metaphor or two.  So, there is more than one way to skin this cache.  Rather than fooling with the puzzle, you might just treat it as an offset hide. Park at the northeastern end of the Morganton Catawba River Greenway and take the as yet unconstructed (and, as far as I know, not even planned) extension up the river past the current location of GC38JKG.  Your body will be easier to find, should it come to that, if you stick close to the river along the fisherman's path, once well defined but now much less so.  .

Exactly, according to my GPS, .15 mile past GC38JKZ, you should come to a point at which the "extension" is blocked (formerly for the first time but now for the umpteenth time).  Imagine that you have come to a "T" on the road.  Look left and right and then take the road that would look most promising, were it in fact there.  (I have left a very large woodsmen's arrow pointing in the direction you need to go, but you can't depend on it staying where I put it, or always pointing in the correct direction.)  Follow the imaginary road until you come to the forks.  After that, you are on your own. But if you come to a paved road, you have gone too far.

[NOTE: The area has varmints, pests, flora, and fauna usually found in an "unkept" Southern river bank environment. Depending upon the direction the wind is blowing, it may also have a unpleasant odor on days when the water treatment plant down river releases gasses.]
