The Kingston Historic Area is a World Heritage site located on Norfolk Island. One of Australia’s most interesting and important heritage sites, Kingston is a living showcase of Polynesian, convict and Pitcairn Islander history.
The 1825-1855 second (penal) settlement buildings, roads, bridges, and stonework dominate the landscape.
The Kingston Historic Area is recognised for being among the best surviving examples of large-scale convict transportation and colonial expansion of European powers through the presence and labour of convicts. It is one of eleven sites that make up the Australian Convict Sites World Heritage Property.
The “Kingston Historic Area” Adventure Lab will take you to 5 Historic Buildings that are all open to the public. You can do them in any order you want. I have included the waypoints & questions to each location to assist you in visiting the 5 locations. The cache is not at the posted coordinates. At the posted coordinates you will find the Foreman of Works Quarters that is now a museum and is open to the public (Fee applies).
As soon as you get on the island connect to wi-fi at your accommodation and all the questions will appear. I have set the geofence at 100km. There is no international roaming with the Norfolk Telecom network. Alternatively, if you have an unlocked phone you can get a Tourist sim card with data for your visit.
