Near Ocotillo, there is a place where rockets are launched whenever the rocket clubs get together for a weekend of high flights and fun for the whole family. I hid this cache with my 13 year old son during the May meeting. From the cache you can look down on the rocket launching area. You can also see signal mountain and into Mexico. I highly recommend that you find out when the next rocket club meeting takes place and check it out. Warning! It will be very hot in the Summer, but there will be night launches as well. If you are here when there is not a gathering of rocketeers, you won’t find much except for some machinery for some sort of sand and rock plant. The border patrol will visit this area frequently, as well as foreign exchange students from Mexico. You can walk up the hill in about 30 minutes to find a large aluminum box painted Canary yellow covered by a few rocks.
Inside you will find Canon Video Software, Outfource PC-CD Rom, a sprinkler video, “Dark Earth” video game, misc hits audio CD, “Walk on Water VHS Tape”, 3 Imation Blank 12X CDR’s, Box of Paper clips, Seven Mini Photo frames, six magnetic business cards, SDSU Aztec Center Bowling ticket, Five Gold Dollar coins, Indian Pottery, a Mexican hand-made wallet from 1966, a Maui Silver Dollar, and a Mason Jar filled with 1975 “D” pennies – in Mint condition!
Good luck! Take plenty of Water any time or year ...
