#10 in the Newport Canal series
Osprey Canal gives water access to houses on Atlanta Court to the north and Madeleine Court to the south. Deep water access is via Albatross canal for small craft only under the Kay Cottee bridge out to Moreton Bay.
Atlanta was a centreboard sloop yacht designed and built by Captain Alexander Cuthbert for the Bay of Quinte Yacht Club, Belleville, Ontario, Canada as a challenger for the 5th America's Cup yacht race in 1881. Atlanta was plagued by a lack of funds and sailed to New York via the Erie Canal and Hudson River. Stripped of its spars, the yacht was heeled over as far as possible on the bilge to permit passage through the locks, which was bad for the hull's structural integrity. Atlanta challenged the defender, Mischief, an iron sloop from New York, nicknamed "The Iron Pot". After 3 races during heavy rain squalls, Mischief victoriously defended the America's Cup challenge.
Ospreys are large raptors 50-65cm in size. Their habitat is distributed around most of the Australian coastline inhabiting rivers, estuaries and coastal headlands. They soar over waterways in search of fish, plunging feet first into the water to snare the prey in their talons.
You are looking for a small round container hidden by natural camouflage. Room for small swaps but no pen. Use your geocaching stealth as always.
Congratulations to stacksy for FTF!!
