...Sutton Valence Keep is all that remains of a once great castle...
...the gruesome history goes right back to the 12th century....
...owned by Simon de Montfort who led a baronial rebellion against Henry III...
... Simon was killed at the Battle of Evesham in 1265....
...The ghost of a black dog is said to be walked here from Leeds Castle by the ghost of the Duchess of Gloucester once imprisoned there, a bad omen for all...
....we will be looking for ghostly goings on, haunted happenings and cauldron crones ....
....please join us to investigate and explore this fascinating area, and please wear your best costumes....

Join us for a night of terrifying fun....
....this event is themed. We ask attendees to dress as, sorry, in, the spirit of the occasion....
....the more gruesome, hideous, and terrifying, the better...
....we also invite you to bring your pumpkin to our 'Foul Faced Festivities'....
....we hope to see horrible costumes, scary faces.... we want to terrify those who might pass....
....ghostly goings on include sickly sweeties and curdled cakes for the young and old....
.....although I can't promise there will be anything nice....
....look out for our petrifying parchment to sign away your life....
....sorry, scribble your ghastly attendance....

When and where will this gruesome gathering take place, I hear you moaning?
Thursday October 31st, at Sutton Valence Castle.....
.....between 7:30pm and 8pm...
...the castle is free to enter...
...on a good night we will have stunning views over East Sussex and the Weald of Kent...
...on a less good night we will have some shelter from the weather....
...free parking is available closeby in the village, see the waypoint...

Why on earth would I want to go, I hear you groan?
A good question indeed.
To prove you have guts. You may even still have them when you leave....
To prove you are not afraid of the dark....
To give the children something to fear.... sorry, look forward to...
....and as if those reasons are not enough....

This is the fifth annual Halloween Horde of Hideous Horror....
...previous ghostly gatherings have been great fun....
...we've visited Whitby (twice), Manchester and Falmouth....
...please join in the hideous hauntings at Sutton Valence this year.... if you dare....
...everyone is welcome....costumes, pumpkins, being scared or even enjoying yourself are not required.... just be there.... ahahahahaahaaa....

Please park in the village (see waypoints), there is no parking directly outside the castle, it is only a few minutes walk.... the castle is a ruin, it has some walls but no roof and it is not lit at night.... steps lead up to the event from the road.... torches are highly recommended and you enter at your own risk....
