Puzzzler: Apparently the Army Corp of Engineers has adopted new rules for geocaches within their jurisdiction. This cache had to be removed.

The Galisteo Dam picnic area overlooks the dry Galisteo River. Hardly anyone ever comes here.
To get here, take exit 264 on I-25 (Between Albuquerque and Santa Fe) at the base of La Bajada Hill. Drive south and east for 6.87 miles on NM-16. The road will end at a picnic area.
I chose this site because it has a picnic area, but no one ever uses it. Bring your lunch and have a feast. You'll dine on the overlook above the Galisteo River. But don't expect to see any water. This area is dry, dry, dry!
The round trip hike to the cache is less than a mile. It is hidden in an ammo can under a few rocks at the base of a juniper tree.
The hike is fairly easy, though a bit rocky, and it sure looks like snake country to me. It can be hot in the summer so bring plenty of water.
