We are replacing the original "CNY Falls #3 (Three Falls)" that was archived in 2016 because the land was posted. The land where the cache is placed has been purchased by the CNY Land Trust and we have obtained permission from the Land Trust to replace/reactivate the cache. The cache is the original container and near the spot it originally was placed in 2001. From the original cache description:
These hidden falls hold surprising charm amid rugged terrain – this cache is placed between two converging streams near the top of side-by-side waterfalls. To reach the cache, you’ll have to take a short hike down a grade in an area with steep cliffs nearby. Experienced adult hikers should be able to reach it without difficulty, but it’s not recommended for children.
Note: We adopted this cache from Bob and Laura on 9 November 2004 and on 11 November 2004 we replaced the old cache with a new, restocked container and placed it in a drier location a few feet from the original spot. TinyMoon & The Pumpkin King were the "FTF" the relocated cache, on 1/1/05!
Park in the new parking area on the east side of Sweet Road, just north of the intersection with Route 173 and take the trail to the falls.
NOTE: the nature preserve will be closed from January 1, 2024 to April, 2024 (exact reopening date depends on the weather) to allow for trail maintenance/recovery.
