To get to this cache park at the Baldy Peak parking lot at Quartz Mountain. The cache is located in an ammo can at the top of the main climbing area. There are two main ways to access this cache with both being equally difficult. The first way, if you're an experienced climber, is to free solo the Snake's Head (5.5). This is an incredibly exposed route consisting of easy slab climbing but without any opportunities for placing protection. A true Quartz classic! The second way is to hike around the backside and come from the north. While this may seem simple at first, be prepared to face rattlesnakes, poisonous insects/plants, and steep/loose terrain just to name a few obstacles.
thmoaskoraido and I truly hope you enjoy exploring Quartz mountain as much as we have! The rock climbing and bouldering here creates a unique contrast to the surrounding farmlands, and that's part of what makes this place so special. Baldy peak truly offers some of the best rock climbing in Oklahoma, and it's becoming a great place to cache as well!
For more information on the climbing here, check out the guide book by Tony Mayse. Always climb at your own risk!
