History of Basso Gardens

This land was originally part of the great Basso estate, known as "Basso Bavarian Gardens." which stretched as far as you could see. The Bassos have always been avid outdoorsmen, and loved to hike, fish, and sit in hot tubs. They always liked to brew beer and play the accordion.

Anyway, the nearby trail was named after my great, great grandfather, Rocky Basso IX. Over the years, the name was shortened to just "Rocky Ridge."

As we all know, the Bassos were world famous for their "Basso Ale." On hot days, they liked to sit right here and guzzle their own brew. One day they put a geocache right here. I've never been able to find it--can you?

Note: This cache is on EBMUD land, which is accessed from the park (near the playground.) Access to trails requires an EBMUD permit, which can be purchased online.
