Geocache Description:

With an average gradient of 19.4% Middle Brae was identified in 2019 as the steepest street in Scotland.

The street (also known as Post Office Brae after the former Post Office building at the bottom) is one of several sharp inclines that run up the hill behind the picturesque harbour area, and inspired one enterprising local to draw up plans for a ski lift to carry pedestrians to the top. Sadly it never came to fruition, so I'm afraid you'll have to walk...

The terrain rating of 1.5 applies if you park outside An Tobar at the top. For the full experience you should approach from Main Street - in which case please feel free to share your own thoughts on the terrain rating in your log. devil

THE CACHE IS NOT HIDDEN IN THE WALL! Please do not move any stones!!
Please take care when handling - there is a drain by your feet...
