This geocache is located at the base of The LaGrange Kentucky Public Train Observation Tower. Please note this observation tower is NOT a CSX Railroad property or owned by the railroad. The tower is an attraction for persons visiting LaGrange Kentucky. In LaGrange the railroad runs down the Main Street Business District and is an attraction for photographers and railfans. The tower straddles the public sidewalk.
The geocache is made from a section of 4x4 post and is about 9" in length, it is attached to the base of the tower. It has a removal cap that reveals the enclosed geocache vessel, which is a 1 pint canning jar containing the geolog. See attached pictures.
The geocache is not on the railroad right-of-way. ----------- Also the group that built and maintains the observation tower is aware of how the geocache is attached to the support post and they 'OKed this arrangement. We felt this was the best way to secure the geocache. The group is quite excited about having a geocache placed there and look forward to many people enjoying and participating in this geocache. ------ An additional point that I did not address: The geocache would/will be maintained on a weekly basis or more often if the geocache traffic makes it necessary.
