Geocache Description:


Hill Station Homestead was built in 1910, but then the property was part of the larger Woden Station. Hill Station was first named in 1862. The site's cottage is one of the earliest examples of the rare pise construction, also known as rammed earth.

Despite its historical value, the property's main homestead and various outbuildings have been left vacant and fenced off since the restaurant's closure in 2009. It was the best restaurant in Canberra for several years. Many a Prime Minister has dined there.

Hill Station was heritage-listed in October, 2012.
