Geocache Description:

Trying to figure out a name for this cache with Mrs. Nethog and we decide to take the easy way out with this one. At first I thought this had no connection with San Leon until I read the Urban Dictionary definition of “Bama”. And here are a few of them… 1. Originally, a Bama was a southerner (from Alabama or San Leon, for instance) trying to blend in up north, but was so obviously country that it didn't work. Now it's more general and just means something funny-looking, unsophisticated or country as heck… 2. One who is out of style ie fashion, speech, or behavior… 3. Short term for Alabama. The way many Alabamians actually refer to their home state. A great place to live, filled with people who are kind, hard working, and helpful. It's often insulted by movies and television shows that depict Alabamians (or San Leoners) as good-for-nothing white-trash, when in all reality, Bama's (or San Leon is) full of very intelligent and talented people. Or in this case it’s just the brand of my favorite grape jelly. Regardless of your idea of what Bama means this will be a fun cache to find and hopefully bring you to a part of San Leon that you normally wouldn’t see. Not a real special area of San Leon but I thought it was a good place to put a cache bigger than a micro and secluded enough to not draw attention to my fellow cachers. I wanted to place this one on 27th Street which would have brought you by the San Leon Water Treatment facility because I know that’s where most people like to visit when they go to a new town! 😊 This one however is one block over at the end of a dead end street. Depending on your ride you might want to park towards the end of the pavement and walk to GZ. The terrain approaching GZ can be rough depending on the amount of rain but I think you should not have a problem making your way to this one. I use a Garmin Nuvi GPS so the cords might be off a little but it is a pretty easy find. So come on out and find this one. Happy Caching!!
