Most big cities have some grim spaces dominated by elevated roads. Guangzhou's Inner Ring Road built with World Bank loan funding in the late 1990s is one such space. While the rest of the area is thriving and revitalizing, Hengfu Lu as part of the elevated Inner Ring Road network has been struck by the blight caused by such infrastructure. It was a dump in 2000 and remains so in 2023. Thank you, World Bank. However, despite the generally hostile and anti-urban vibe, the area in this north part of Taojin is still lively, with a regular flow of pedestrians including to the nearby Luhu area and Guangzhou Art Museum. There's also a big dermatology hospital and Chinese traditional medicine hospital here.
2021 update: Luhu Park received a major upgrade with landscaping and even viewing platforms and a skywalk, and the gates and walls blocking it off from Hengfu Lu were torn down making it accessible and a much more attractive location for this cache.
