Taojin manages to be both dense and sprawling, and this spot is highly representative of the area. It's geographically central. The nondescript housing stock and the public spaces between them and shops at their feet are being continually reinvented and upgraded. the nine-or-so storey walk-up 'danwei' style housing has had lifts installed during 2018-2020 in many buildings. (The lift installation results in a much smaller flow of people past this cache, since they can take the lift rather than the ramp.) There is very limited car parking nearby, with a major landscaping upgrade during 2019 further pedestrianizing the interior streets. This followed a major upgrading project a decade earlier in which many of the interior connection streets were pedestrianized.
