HR - Jasen (lat. Fraxinus) je rod drveća iz porodice Oleaceae koji obuhvaća 63 vrste u Europi, Aziji, Sjevernoj Americi i sjevernoj Africi. U Hrvatskoj postoji nekoliko autohtonih vrsta jasena i to poljski jasen u poplavnim nizinskim šumama, crni jasen u submediteranskom području te gorski jasen u gorskim predjelima Hrvatske.

HR - Drvo jasena je tvrdo, koristi se za izradu namještaja, glazbenih instrumenata, brodova te za ogrjev, a može narasti od 30-40 metara. Listovi su neparno sastavljeni u obliku pera, cvjetovi su jednospolni ili dvospolni, ali jednodomni, a plod je okriljeni oraščić – perutka. Cvate u travnju i svibnju. Oprašuje se pomoću kukaca ili vjetrom.
