The carving of Mt. Rushmore began in 1927. It was completed in 1941. Gutzon Borglum and his son, Lincoln, were those in charge of the huge sculpture carved with 4 of our US Presidents. The 60-foot-high granite schulpture has the faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln.
This cache is hidden in the National Forest. It is not hidden in Mt. View Cemetery. This cache was hidden in order to see Mt. Rushmore. If you chose to find this cache, you will see a different view of it. George Washington is the one you will see the best. If you can't see George, then you are in the wrong area. I took many sets of readings with the GPS. Because of the rocks, you might be 15-20 feet off in your reading for the cache area. YOU WILL NEED A PENCIL IN ORDER TO SIGN THE LOGBOOK!
