This cache is a multi part cache. You will go to six spots before arriving at the final cache. Each location will either be a virtual cache with clues to the next cache or a microcache in a plastic film can which will give you the coordinates to the next one.
The final cache is a normal sized cache. This hunt will take you on a tour of a few of the historic and scenic areas of the city Of Harrisonburg. While my idea was for a bike trip you can just as well go by vehicle. There is no rough terrain to hike and no bush whacking involved.
There are four ways you can go about this depending on how much time you have and how ambitious you are . The way first is obvious. Use the GPS only. Or Print my Quad pic of the city which will get you in the correct quadrant, use a city map of Harrisonburg which can be obtained free from the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce at 800 Country Club Rd. Harrisonburg, Va. 22801 450.434.3862 or Use a laptop to enter the coordinates as you get them and map them out. With each location on this printout you will notice a map grid square letter and number. This matches the City map. You will also notice a quad Letter. This goes with my Quad pic. That you printout from this webpage The micro caches are in very public areas so please be discrete about rehiding them.
P.S. The city map from the chamber that I used to get the map grid locations has the picture of the Rockingham County Courthouse on the front of it. I was told by the chamber that this map would not be revised for a few years so the one you get should be the same as mine.
1) Begin you adventure here. 38 25.092 -78 56.122. This is a virtual cache. Add 6267 to the year of settlement and use these digits to fill in the blanks for the next location below
2) Coordinates 38 2___ .___ ___ ___ -78 53.083 Map Grid D3 Quad A
Many many years ago a big silver space ship containing shape shifting aliens from the planet UTZ235 located in the PATATINE Galaxy landed in Harrisonburg between two houses in a cul de sac which at the time were in a fairly remote isolated section of the city. Very few of us were aware of this occurrence and of course the authorities did not believe us even though we offered irrefutable evidence as to this occurring. We always wondered if perhaps the police were aliens sent to earth earlier to help in the cover-up In any event these shape shifters assumed the looks and identities of the people living in the houses on either side of their ship. We were never able to ascertain what became of the original human inhabitants but our suspicions as to their fate is far to gruesome to get into here.
If you dare to go to this area please be careful and act inconspicuous as you have no doubt heard of the types of experiments sometimes performed on abducted humans by aliens. Very quickly and covertly get the house numbers of the two houses on either side of the spacecraft and move down the road least you to become a victim of their medical probing. Find a nice spot alongside of the road to pull over and enjoy the scenery while you add the two house numbers together along with 3332 . Use the digits of the sum to fill in the blanks for the next caches location.. And remember , " The truth is out there".
3) Coordinates: 38 25.455 -78 ___ ___ . __ __0 Map Grid D8 Quad D
This cache is a micro cache. It contains the coordinates for the next cache. It is hidden in a small cubby hole formed by two rocks with smaller rocks covering the entrance. The rocks are at the base of a tree with the tree being between the cache and the stream.
4) Coordinates: _____________________________________ Map Grid F8 Quad D
This is a virtual cache. It is a short 50 Ft. walk up a paved walkway in the woods.
Take the year displayed and add to 4558 then use these digits to fill in the blanks for the next cache coordinates.
5) Coordinates: 38 2 __ . __ __ __ -78 53.763 Map Grid C6 Quad C
This cache is a microcache and contains the coordinates for the next cache which is a virtual cache. This microcache is hidden at the most obvious hiding place which can be seen in the immediate area. . It is at the bottom of the object under a flat rock. It is about 30 Ft. off of a graveled path and down a deer path.
6) Coordinates: ____________________________________ Map Grid B6 Quad C
Across from the street from historic structure is a mail box at a lane Take the mailbox number and add 445 to it. Use these three digits to fill in the blanks below.

The cache is hidden under the rock in the north corner of a worked plot of ground.The cache has a little church to the east of it and a white house to the west. You can pull off in the grass at the edge of the road. Please remove the rock carefully and replace the rock as close to original position as possible. Be sure to read all of the paper work and sign and date the log. Also be sure to tear off the URL to a site with historical information on one of the virtual caches you visited on your journey .

For some dumnb reason the parks dept. hasnot done a very thorough job of mowing this year in the park. I suspect it is a temporary thing as they have just been trying to keep the major portions mowed with all the rain we have been having. They always keep the stream bank in pretty nice condition. And the stream clean. I went to this cache today and there is a lot of junk in the stream behind the weeds. I suspect they will get it all cleaned up and trimmed before long. It is about a 25 ft trek through the weeds to the stream bank. Very easy. I did it in shorts. I did step in a marshy part and soaked my shoes. Oh well they wash and I dry. :-)

Cleaned dried and sealed the final cache hiding place. Hopefully water will no longer get in.
