Geocache Description:

At give coordinates, look for an elefant-size stone. The stone has pre-Columbian carvings. How many iguanas do you see in the carvings?

Panama is full of petroglyphs. At give coordinates, you can find one of the most famous stones with petroglyphs in Panama: the Piedra Pintada or Painted Stone of Calderas. This elefant-size stone has several pre-Columbian carvings. How many iguanas do you see in the carvings?

Panama's petroglyphs are very diverse and complex. The province of Chiriqui has the most of them. But some are located in other areas, like in Los Santos Province, in east Azuero.

Please, don't damage the site. They are part of Panama's historic wealth, and they are protected by law. You can go there and see them. Don't paint the carvings: it's better to try to feel them with your fingers. To log this cache as a find you must find the location and take a picture of yourself (or one of your team members) with your GPS in hand, and the carved stone in the background. Then upload and post it to your “found log” on this geocache page.

If you're interested you can check my site. There I expose why I think that one of the drawings in this stone is a sun calendar.

Caution: beware of the cows!

Good luck!
