Duck and cover” emerged as the battle cry of the American domestic preparedness effort. The public-awareness campaign, that reached the American public, particularly schoolchildren, in the form of a short animated film (1951) depicting a turtle practicing the duck-and-cover emergency response to danger. As soon as he realized an explosion was about to occur, the turtle ducked and covered by withdrawing quickly into his shell. Likewise, children practiced taking immediate refuge wherever they might be, so that they would be prepared to act in the event of an atomic-bomb explosion, which, they were told, would be signaled by a blinding flash of light For example, the children would duck and cover under their desks if they were in school or against a wall with their heads and faces protected if they were outdoors.

The duck-and-cover campaign remained a standard response to potential nuclear attack throughout the 1950s and into the ’60s. Eventually, it waned, however, partly because of thaws in U.S.-Soviet relations. Despite its eventual demise the policy remains one of the most pervasive and successful homeland-security initiatives in U.S. history.

Rule breaker or did the Good Humor man, just give him some good California common sense as change for his dollar. You decide.

They always seem to put the more Intelligent Students in the front, and the Intelligence Deficent in the back..

Looking back now, are the two kids in back really ID's or are they the true IS's

Or have they recently relocated from California

you decide
