Geocache Description:

#13 in the Newport Canal series

Sea-eagle Canal gives water access to half the odd houses on Constellation Court and odd houses on Eagle Court. Deep water access is via Albatross canal for small craft only under the Kay Cottee bridge out to Moreton Bay.

Constellation was a 12-metre class yacht designed by Olin Stephens under the International 3rd Rule, which successfully defended the 1964 America's Cup against British challenger Sovereign. Other America's Cup yachts designed by Olin Stephens include Columbia, Courageous, Intrepid and Ranger. In 1964, Constellation also won the Caritas Cup and the Chandler Hovey Gold Cup. Constellation's original home port was Oyster Bay, New York; then Montecarlo, Monaco from 1966 to 1978 where she was used as a trial-horse for French America's Cup challengers, Intrepid and France; then London in 1980 as trial-horse for British challenger Lionheart. In 1994, Constellation was sunk while being towed off Turkey.

The White-bellied Sea-Eagle (Haliaeetus leucogaster) is similar in shape to the well-known Wedge-taled eagel and almost as large, but readily distinguished by its contrasting crisp-white and ashy-grey plumage, which adds to its striking appearance as it soars effortlessly on broad wings. Despite its name, the sea-eagle is not confined to coastal areas, and the species is regularly recorded at terrestrial wetlands far from the sea, especially along larger inland rivers and freshwater swamps and lakes. It feeds mainly off aquatic animals, such as fish, turtles and sea snakes, but it takes birds and mammals as well. It is a skilled hunter and will attack prey up to the size of a swan. Sea-eagles also feed on carrion such as sheep and fish along the waterline. They also harass smaller birds, forcing them to drop any food thay they are carrying.

You are looking for a tiny magnetic container. It will only "stick" to one spot so ensure you replace exactly in the correct place. Use your geocaching stealth as always.

Congratulations to Brislions for FTF!!
