This geocache is a simple multi-cache placed in a cemetery in memory of my cousin Richard, who like so many others left us way to early.
Richard was one and a half years younger than me, but we were closer than brothers growing up in La Porte. We lived about five blocks apart, and almost every day he was at my house or I was at his. It was a different time back then when things were more care free, and we would ride our bikes all over La Porte without any worries. If one of our bikes was down, I would "pump" him as we called it. He would either sit on the seat or the handle bars while I pedaled. As we grew older we would ride around in my car or Richard's brother Billy's car. They weren't much to look at, but they got us where we needed to go! When I married Tammy Richard was my best man, but Richard himself never married. He lived at home with his parents until he passed away at age 50. He stayed home to take care of his parents, paying them rent and taking care of house repairs and yardwork. Richard was a good person, a great friend, and fun to be around! He was a hard worker who had a great sense of humor and loved his family and having fun. The doctors say he passed away from throat cancer because of all the tobacco he chewed and the cigarettes he smoked. Only thing is Richard didn't smoke or chew tobacco.
PARKING- It's a small cemetery and I seldom see others here, but since it is a one lane drive if you don't want to block the street you can park on the grass at the given parking coordinates without fear of sinking as it has crushed rock beneath the grass. Just don't park on the concrete- that is a hike and bike trail!
PUZZLE- The coordinates will take you to visit Richard where you will need to answer a few short and easy questions in order to find the final. The ground is actually pretty flat, but if it has rained recently you will get your feet wet. And if it has rained a lot your feet will get very wet as the cemetery does not drain well where he is buried. That's the reason for the higher terrain rating.
Looking at Richard's headstone answer these qustions to find the final:
A = How many letters are in the name of the month that Richard was born (don't abbreviate)?
B= What is the last digit of the year Richard passed away?
C= What is the first digit of the day Richard was born? Double it.
D= How many letters are in Richard's last name?
Substitute the answers to the above questions in the following coordinates to locate the final:
