Geocache Description:

17 November 2019, 14:30 - 18:00

November's Norfolk & Suffolk Mardle is once again combined with the GIFF (Geocaching International Film Festival), earning attendees the GIFF souvenir.

Event details - Sunday 17th November 14:30 - 18:00 Thurston Library, IP31 3SD

GIFF Showreel 15:30-16:30 approx.

We've had 2 years over in Mildenhall but this year I've found us a venue closer to home.

The Friends Of Thurston Library have invited us to try out their shiny new interactive screen technology for the yearly GIFF showing.

As in previous years cachers are welcome to attend for part or all of the event. We will be in the room adjoining the public library from 2:30pm until the library closes at 3, when we will move through the doors into the main room. After a short while to rearrange the furniture the film showing starts at around 3:30pm. The films will only be shown once, so if you want to watch them this is your chance!

IF YOU ATTEND DURING THE GIFF SHOWING THEN PLEASE EXPECT PEOPLE WILL BE WATCHING IT. No one is obliged to watch, but please don't turn up during that time and expect to just wander in and chat. There is plenty of time either side for socialising and you are welcome to wander off into the local area if you don't want to watch.

PARKING/TRANSPORT -
There is a small car park at the venue but this only fits around 6 cars, more if parking behind others. For this reason please only park in the venue car park if you will don't plan to go off caching so you are available to move your vehicle and release others if required! Norton Road (the road leading to the car park) is quiet on a Sunday and can be used for on-road parking. Alternatively I have provided a waypoint for the New Green Community Centre. There is a large car park and only a few minutes walk along paved footpaths with pedestrian crossing. Thurston has a train station which is also a few minutes walk. This is on the Bury to Ipswich line.

REFRESHMENTS -
Refreshments will be available, tea/coffee/squash etc. Donations towards the cost of providing these will be appreciated.
Mr Stowmartian has again very kindly offered to bring some of his wonderful baking but Lottie from Stowmarket Guides will be joining us with some refreshments to help raise funds for her international guiding trip

RAFFLE -
Usually we have to charge for the GIFF event, and the rules allow for this. As we have been given use of the venue free of charge this year I will not be charging an entry fee, but will be holding a raffle in aid of Lottie's fundraising. Prize donations willingly accepted, tickets will be £1 on the day.

TRACKABLES -

If you are able to come armed with info on where trackables need to go that would really help. A table will be set up for them to be left on. PLEASE NOTE THAT I CANNOT TAKE HOME LARGE TRACKABLES. Anything larger than an A4 box file will not be left with me so please consider that when deciding what to bring with you, or be prepared to take it home with you if no one else does! I know this sounds harsh but I have previously been stuck unable to fit trackables I was left with in the car safely with my children and won't be making them suffer again for someone else's amusement! I rarely get to events and don't have large caches within easy distance so would appreciate your help on this one.

DOGS -

Well behaved dogs are able to attend the event, there is a small and fully enclosed garden leading off the adjacent room where they can be but owners must take responsibility for clearing up after them.
