Benjamin Franklin is erroneously credited with Daylights Savings time. It is doubly errenous- first, because the concept has existed since ancient times, and because Franklin himself thought the concept silly. His 1784 writing on the subject was, in fact, satire. The concept would not be formally adopted until World War I, as an attempt to saving on coal and energy.
