Geocache Description:

Meet a King, a Queen, a Courtesan, a Champion ... and a Genius!

The cache is not at the posted co-ordinates.
It can be found at:

N52 14.A(DE)B  E000 23.(C+1)B(C–5)

(Hint: the bonus final location is in the south-western part of the town.)

It is easiest to do this cache at the same time as the Newmarket's Great and Famous Adventure Lab series (see below)
Alternatively it can be done as a stand-alone multi in the usual way.

SOLVING THIS CACHE WHILE DOING THE ADVENTURE LAB

1) If you don't already have it, download the Adventure Lab App to your phone or tablet.
2) Access the Newmarket's Great and Famous Adventure by:
either locating and selecting it on the map in the App,
or by scanning the QR code below (with your phone's camera), it should then prompt you to open the Adventure in the App.

3) After completing each Adventure Lab stage you will see a 'Journal' message (which you can always go back to later).
Each Journal message includes the value for one of the letters to E needed above.
Note: When you complete the fifth Lab Cache the App takes you directly to a 'Congratulations' page rather than the 'Journal'. To get your final letter value you will need to go manually in the App to the 'last' Journal page.

SOLVING THIS CACHE AS A STAND-ALONE

To obtain the numbers A to E without doing the Adventure Lab caches, find the following items of information by going to each of the five waypoints.

At the Bill Tutte Monument (near N 52° 14.686 E 0° 24.475, waypoint 1)
There is an information board (;Bill Tutte 1917-2002') giving details of the life and work of this WWII code-breaking genius (see arrow in photo above). This includes a diagram of a square divided into smaller squares.
The number in the bottom-left small square is A3.

At Nell Gwynne's House (near N 52° 14.659 E 0° 24.461, waypoint 2)
Near the left hand end of the building (next to the curving section of wall) there is an air-brick (see arrow in photo above).
B is the number of rows of holes it has.

At King Charles II's Palace House (near N 52° 14.627 E 0° 24.439, waypoint 3)
There is a lamppost on the opposite side of the road from the palace with a yellow 'H' sign.  (see arrow in photo below).
The upper number is 7C.

At the Jockey Club (near N 52° 14.604 E 0° 24.273, waypoint 4)
In the centre of the courtyard in front of the statue of champion horse Hyperion is a stone drain-cover (see arrow in photo above).
D is the number of holes in it.

At the Queen's Statue (near N 52° 14.370 E 0° 23.637, waypoint 5)
Facing the Queen's Statue is a curved stone bench.
E is the number of stone slabs which make up the seat of the bench. (ignore the back and the 'arms')
