Lock 34 and Lock 35 are sometimes known as Siamese Twin Locks! The upper gate of 34 is the lower gate of 35!
Interesting Fact: The canal's peak year was 1855, when 33,000 commercial shipments took place! Fortunately, the canal was never filled in once commercial traffic diminished. Now we have a wonderful source of recreaction and some commercial use still exists.
This cache can be obtained by walking from Upson Park (easy walk) or from Canal St. (stairs). Either way, parking is available there and will determine the terrain rating. Night caching is discouraged.
