Geocache Description:

This collection of caches has nothing to do with the Church Micro series in the UK. Given that the Australian 2016 census indicates that No Religion and Jedi Knight are the fastest increasing classifications of the optional religion question "What is the person's religion?" it is not surprising that there is surfeit of empty churches that have been repurposed.

Former Wesleyan Methodist Church is now a private residence. It was built in 1882/3 and opened on 12/7/1883. Closed 11/6/1978. The first chapel on the site was wood and calico opened on 8/12/1861. It was replaced by the current building, with the original wooden church sold to the local Congregational Church for forty pounds. A Sunday School building was built in 1910.

This Wesleyan church began operation back in 1863, built on land donated by Walter Watson Hughes, on whose larger property Walla Waroo, copper had been originally discovered, and who was the co-founder of the University of Adelaide.

There had been a pine and calico chapel previously on the site two years before the main church was built and a school had opened in the chapel with 28 students.

The church last ran services back in 1978 and has now been converted to a private residence, which is now up for sale asking $575,000 and boasting a 7 metre curved ceiling, baltic pine floors and classic timber features.
