Geocache Description:

Madame Butterfly is a short novel telling the story of a young girl, Butterfly, who is purchased by an American naval officer to become his wife. The two are bound together in an ill fated marriage.

For this cache you will first need to spot Madame Butterfly. She is forever bound to this camo cache, in the small village of Long Wittenham.

The cache is approximately 2.5 metres off the ground, although there is a convenient step to help you retrieve it. You can park directly alongside it so suitable for a quick cache and dash. The cache is hidden from the busy road so less chance of attracting the attention of muggles.

Given this is a busy area please tuck the cache back as found.

Congratulations Go catch for a quick FTF.

---------------------------------------------------------

This cache is on a small triangle of land with an ancient stone cross. Legend has it that in the early C7th St Birinius preached from the steps and bought Christianity to the heathen locals. The land also used to be home to the village stocks, presumably providing an alternative past time to the four pubs in the village.

Closer to the cache is a now unremarkable small building housing electrican equipment for the village water pumps. Although it doesn't look it, this building is over 150 years old and used to house the village fire engine. It survived near-demolition in 1961 before being gifted to the water company.
