This is the southern entrance to a park that was always popular given the limited public spaces and dense population - but has become even moreso in recent years as landscaping elements and various rotating displays and exhibits have been added. The southern entrance is more heavily used than the others, serving as the main access point for the densely populated area south of the park.
Far from being sombre (it commemorates heroes of wars and revolutions), the park is managed in a way that promotes vibrancy, access to the community, and an appealing, active public space.
