A great opportunity to detour off the highway to a quiet little spot where you can view the slough, the surrounding mountains, and enjoy the scenery & wildlife.
It seems most caches in the area are micros and small containers, so I felt it would be great to have a larger container for exchanging items .
I will visit this cache frequently, to ensure it stays in good shape, and that nobody has to fight with blackberries to reach it.
This cache is placed with fluctuating water levels in mind. It will not be washed away with the spring freshet.
Please replace cache camo/cover carefully.
Since there is no shoulder, pull off to the side of the road as much as you can, to allow local traffic (including tractors) to pass. This is not a busy road, but be safe & be courteous.
Feel free to mention any wildlife sightings you may have when you visit this spot. This is a common viewing area for birds, including eagles, osprey, peregrine falcon, red tailed hawk, kestrel, Northern harrier, Trumpeter swans, and several species of waterfowl and songbirds. Coyotes, bear, beaver, river otter, and salmon are also commonly sighted residents.
