“Hullumeelsus” on 1968. aastal loodud film, mille tegevus toimub hullumajas. Nimelt on saksa võimud likvideerimas hulle kui ühiskonda koormavaid ja ebavajalikke isikuid, enne kui Gestapo ohvitser Windisch selle ürituse peatab. Ta saabub anonüümsest vihjest alguse saanud eriülesandega leida haigete hulgast vaenlaste salaagent. See osutub suuremaks katsumuseks kui ta arvata oskab ning ka tema ise hakkab vaikselt hulluma.
Filmi režissöör Kaljo Kiisk pidas filmi oma üheks õnnestunumaks teoseks. Antifašistliku sisu tõttu oli film idee poolest igati sobilik Nõukogude kinoekraanile. Kuid film sisaldab ka kriitikat totalitaarse riigikorra vastu, mis tähendab, et kriitika langeb ka nõukogude süsteemile. Seetõttu oli film teistes liiduvabariikides peale Eesti keelatud. Ka Eestis sai sellele osaks teatud isikute poolt kallutatud kriitika, mida Kiisk pidi kaebusteta vastu võtma.

“Hullumeelsus” (“Madness”) is a film made in 1968, which takes place in an asylum. The Germans currently in power are there to liquidate the madmen as persons that are unneeded and are a burden to society. They are stopped by Gestapo officer Windisch. The Gestapo has received an anonymous tip that amongst the lunatics there is an enemy spy and the officer is tasked to find him alive. This turns out to be harder than he thought and slowly he starts turning a bit mad himself.
Kaljo Kiisk, the director, thought this film to be one of his best works. Thanks to its antifascist subject it fits in well to the Soviet cinema. However, since the film criticizes totalitarian rule, the criticism lands on Soviet ideals as well. Because of that, the film was forbidden in the Soviet Union outside of Estonia. In Estonia it was met with possibly influenced criticism, which Kiisk had to take without arguing.
