Geocache Description:

Tractor Street began to be built in 1926 in a wasteland near the Narva Gate. It received its name in honor of the first production of Soviet tractors at the Krasny Putilovets factory. A monument to the first residential building in the constructivism style has been preserved here.
The residential town was designed by a group of Soviet architects from the Committee for the Construction of Workers' Dwellings - A.I. Hegello, A.S. Nikolsky, and G.A. Simonov. To create a new type of housing G.A. Simonov was sent to Germany and Sweden to learn foreign experience.

The time after the revolution was very difficult for the economy. The complex was built of bricks from ruined buildings, fresh wood and rail and tram rails.

The street is 320 meters long. 16 houses were built along the street. Closes the street School of the Decade of October, also known as the Sickle and the Hammer.

Houses on the north and south sides differ in facades. All stairwells face north so that there is more light in the living rooms. Therefore, on the north side there are exits from the houses to the courtyard, and on the south side - to the street.

The houses had two-, three- and four-room apartments, with good ventilation and natural light, balconies, loggias and bay windows.

In the town there was a lot of greenery, trees were planted along the street, in the square and in the courtyards.

In the kitchens, a place for baths was provided, but they were not installed, since then they were not produced in the country. In the context of housing shortages, most apartments have become communal.

In the current realities, this, of course, is an extremely low-quality housing: the apartments do not have bathrooms (why, if a huge bath complex was built nearby), kitchens - just to warm the food brought from the factory-kitchen ... But, I think that workers of the late 1920s, living in barracks, were very pleased with these individual apartments. Currently, the housing estate is registered as a monument of history and culture of local importance. In 2005, the facades were renovated and partly restored.

Please don't log as found if the container seems gone. Set DNF and report missing in that case to make geocaching experience more accurate for the others. As always, watch out, muggles are everywhere.
