Geocache Description:

1st Picnic Point Scout hall is the home of our Joey, Cub, Scout, Venture and Rover Sections.  As scouts we love to try new things and experience the great outdoors and geocaching is a great way to experience the world.

Our Hall might not look like anything special but it does hold lots of great memories.  You don't need to step inside the scout fence to access this geocache.

This spot can be a bit busy on scout meeting nights and parking can be a bit limited so try other times.

You can park your car at the old Picnic Point Boat shed (on Carinya Road) and walk 2.3km in a loop along the river to get all of the caches in this series. The river front is generally quiet with only local traffic (except on scout nights) and is a beautiful spot for a walk - but bring lots of bug spray.

This Geocache was installed as part of an activity for 1st Picnic Point Scouts Joeys Unit.

1st Picnic Point Scout Group can be found nestled beside the beautiful George’s River, in the amazingly green leafy suburb of Picnic Point. This location is reflected in our Group Scarf that is both green and yellow which is to represent both the bushland and beaches of our area. We have had a rich history of Scouting starting way back on the 25th of September 1958.

Scouts Australia provides boys and girls aged 5 to 25 with fun and challenging opportunities to grow through adventure. With around 70,000 members, Scouts Australia is one of the largest youth development organisations in Australia. What makes us unique is our diverse range of activities that develop skills in young people such as leadership, teamwork, problem solving and communication from the age of 5 years old.

Today’s Scouts can take part in an extraordinary variety of outdoor activities, from ‘traditional Scouting skills’ such as camping and bushcraft, through to more extreme challenges such as abseiling, overnight hiking, rafting, canoeing, canyoning, snow activities, rock climbing, sailing… even flying!
