Geocache Description:

This series highlights locations in Skagit County. These communities were formed in the early 1870's remaining up until the 1920's. Many of the names still appear on maps. A few have buildings remaining in use today.

The village of Tiloh was  location near The Knapp Brick and Tile Company of Everett's factory. Land here was found to be rich in clay. The clay was dug by hand, brought to the kilns in clay cars, prepared and fired. Clay drain tiles were necessary in the Big Lake Valley to improve drainage in extremely wet soils. The factory built in the early 20's closed in 1944. It had a general store which dissapeared after 1944.

The nearby homeowner is aware of the cache.

Information found in the book "Big Lake Valley" published by the Big Lake Historical Society.
